Absrtact
The Environmental Protection Administration has launched the Project on Creating Sustainable and High Quality Environmental Sanitation in 2009, and then selected villages, townships, counties, and cities to provide subsidized funding in 2010. The project consists of 8 sub-projects including “Clean Up Taiwan Teams”, “Promoting Local Communities’ Environmental Sanitation”, “Reward Funding of Mobilization Performance”, “Improvement of Street and Neighborhood Cleanup”, “Environmental Protection Model Area”, “Environmental Cleanup and Maintenance in Coastal Areas”, “Neighborhood Pest Prevention and Control”, and “Replacement of Old Sewer Cleaning Trucks”. The present project aimed at providing guidance for the grantee agencies on performance reporting on the Eco-Life website and conducting on-site inspection of the sub-projects. For performance reporting on the Eco-Life website, the reporting rate of each sub-project was calculated every week, and on-site and telephone guidance were offered to those with relatively low reporting percentages. In addition, a customer service line was established. Besides, four Briefing Sessions on Beach/River Cleanup and Online Reporting of Creating Sustainable and High Quality Environmental Sanitation Project were held on August 11, 12, 23,and 25 in Hualien, Taipei, and Taichung and Kaohsiung. Six months into the project, the reporting percentages for the sub-projects “Clean Up Taiwan Teams”, “Promoting Local Communities’ Environmental Sanitation”, “Improvement of Street and Neighborhood Cleanup”, “Environmental Protection Model Area”, and “Reward Funding of Mobilization Performance” were 98%, 100%, 100%, 100%, and 100%, respectively. The on-site inspection were carried out in 2,377 sites in 611 villages under the sub-project of “Promoting Local Communities’ Environmental Sanitation”; 151 sites in 25 cities/counties under “Improvement of Street and Neighborhood Cleanup” sub-project; 650 sites in 23 townships under “Exemplary Environmental Protection Area” sub-project; 203 sites in 21 cities/counties under “Environmental Cleanup and Maintenance in Coastal Areas” sub-project; 72 sites in 25 cities/counties under “Neighborhood Pest Prevention and Control” sub-project; and 46 sites in 10 cities/counties under “Replacement of Old Sewer Cleaning Trucks” sub-project.
